Jessica Eggers, M.S.
Co-founder
Jessica grew up in the Gallatin Valley and brings scientific expertise and project management experience to Well Wise. With over a decade of research experience and three years working in the nonprofit sector, her background spans water quality, plant ecology, habitat restoration, and community-based conservation. As co-founder, she is passionate about helping the public better understand their well water and make informed decisions to protect their health.
Jessica holds a Master’s degree in Plant Ecology from Montana State University, where her research explored how mycorrhizal fungi help native forbs withstand warming and drought stress. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Systems from Stanford University.
Erik Killian, Ph.D.
Co-founder
Erik grew up in Vermont and brings scientific laboratory and agricultural experience to Well Wise. He earned a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences at Montana State University where he studied remote sensing and agricultural soil health. Erik is primarily interested in pushing the feasibility of sustainable agricultural practices that maximize ecosystem health. His work as co-founder focuses on advancing education and accessibility of water quality to strengthen the connection between community members and their water.
Our Story
We were inspired to build this company after navigating our own well water testing process while purchasing a home in the Gallatin Valley. With backgrounds in environmental science, we understood that well water contamination can pose serious risks to both health and property — making testing an essential step in the home-buying and home-owning process.
What surprised us was how complicated the process turned out to be. From identifying a qualified lab and selecting the right test to properly collecting and transporting the samples to interpreting the results, the experience was time-consuming and overwhelming — even with our background.
We founded this company to make well water testing simple, accessible, and informative. Our mission is to protect the health of Montana property owners by providing convenient water testing, along with in-depth consultation and practical education about what your results mean. We believe every property owner deserves peace of mind and confidence in their water.
